Tolmie | WA Marine State Park
We’ve been trying to get our dog Maui to go potty on the boat with an artificial grass pad, and let’s just say… she’s ‘too smart’ for that.
So, when we pick places to park our boat, we greatly consider the distance to shore, because we’re rowing ~ 4 times a day for the pup alone.
Tolmie State Park is beautiful, but in our case, it might be a while until we’re back, just because the shore is quite the workout to get to. — maybe when we get an engine for our dinghy, we’ll have a different opinion.
Tolmie State Park is a 154-acre, marine day-use park with 1,800 feet of saltwater shoreline on Puget Sound.
It’s located between Olympia and Tacoma, Washington on the Nisqually Reach.
There was plenty of life on shore including sand dollars, crabs, shells, oysters, and clams.
We decided to dig up some dinner so we went clamming during low tide in the morning.
Midday, after the clouds cleared, we noticed the epic view of Mt. Rainier right from the park. Say whaaaaa?
On this trip, we didn’t take the opportunity to check out the trails, but there are over 3 miles of hiking trails. Maybe next time!
